It's here! On December 28, we moved into our new Excel 5th wheel. Gone are all the taxes and fees and upkeep of home ownership. It's been a whirlwind these last three days, getting up on all the features, (like using the john) slideouts and fresh, gray, black water. Then to tow the new home, we needed a new truck. That turned out to be this huge monstrosity, lets see if I can get this right, a Ford King Ranch F350. It has everything but a concierge inside and I'm eye level with the rear view mirrors.
On the drive out to Moriaty, New Mexico, we were having some second thoughts. We'd just sold our home of 10 years (2 1/2 baths with 7 big rooms), gave our furniture away to Father Joe's in San Diego and packed all our other possessions in a POD to be later shipped to our Camp in the Adirondacks. We had the buyers from hell to begin with, so this whole process had been maddening. Are we nuts?
Not at all. Day three, I've slept right thought the nights, we have enough room and tv's to keep everyone happy and I don't have to clean a huge house. Since I love to cook, I finally have a gas range.
Ollie is settling in fine, Jake is a bit confused, but will learn to like it. I can tell I'm going to like this new life.
Our thanks to RV Sales in Moriarty, New Mexico Ralph and Kathy Chowning, the owners are the best, and Brian Woof, the sales person, has been extremely patient. In selling our home, there were times we were fearful the deal would fall through. Even with the wire transfer, we were fearful the funds would not come in time to write the checks for all these life changing things.
A snow storm outside is roaring and I don't have to do a thing but veg. Yep, I'm going to like this.
